How I Made it

We took a tour through Wonderland for this Alice Themed Box. We started with a bamboo tea box from amazon and painted in with white acrylic primer. Next we decoupaged the Hand Painted Checks on top and the Red and Gold Floral and Red Stripes along the sides. We then painted all of our moulds, carefully noting the traditional Alice in Wonderland colors. We added some shimmer glaze in gold to the top of the box and wiped down while damp. Then we decided on a layout for the moulds, which is sometimes harder than it looks to do. We used some cardboard padding underneath the frame to build it up and make a level surface. Heavy body gel works great for this purpose.  Next we finished the layout by adding shadows with umber paste, distressing the edges and applying waxes on the castings. Finally we sanded down the inside where the edges of the box are visible when opening and applied some brass antique paste to finish off nicely.
